More than 110,000 nationwide eating and drinking establishments closed in 2020 due to Covid-19, but Duke’s Cafe is not “just another establishment”. Owner, Deirdre “Dee” Gaskins was determined to open up Duke’s in light of the pandemic despite all odds against her.

Duke’s Cafe has quickly become a Horsham favorite providing a multitude of services such as dine in, take out, catering & meal prep. Committed to feeding both the body and soul, Duke’s indulges your taste buds and ear drums with mouth watering food and a wide range of delightful tunes.

Duke’s Cafe started off as a dream of Deirdre’s as she was working in the corporate world. “Around 2014 I started to plan…and in 2017 I decided to leave corporate America for good,” said Deirdre. She decided to take a leap of faith and pursue her passion for cooking. Equipped with a business degree and a background in Operations & IT, she had the “goods” to open Duke’s Cafe.

In contrast to the rigid structure of the corporate world, Deirdre emphasizes flexibility and customization in her everyday orders. “What are you cooking today?” is a common question when visiting Duke’s.

“Only 50% of customers order off of the menu” Deirdre states. Duke’s can make anything your heart desires. If you’re in the mood for cold, hot, spicy, sweet, or savory, Deirdre will cater to your personalized taste that day.

Exclusively on Fridays, “The Duke” and “The Dutchess” are must-have customer favorites. The Duke is a ground chicken and veggie mix sandwich topped with chipotle sauce on a long italian roll that customers describe as “hard to share”. The Dutchess is a salmon cheesesteak, a Philly classic, with spicy aioli on an italian roll. Both are Deirdre’s favorites on the menu.

Catering and meal prep requests are especially fun for Deirdre because she enjoys customizing orders and adding her personal touch.

She never lets food go to waste, “if there’s leftover food, I will feed it to people”. Her love for feeding people goes the extra mile as she also provides food to the communities in need.

Deirdre’s vision for Duke’s is “6 locations with one near you!” She hopes to begin expanding Duke’s within the next 5 years, preferably in corporate buildings and office parks, just like the original location.
